This is my advice for beginners:
Economy:
1. First and only priority your first 5-6 seasons is your economy. Spend all you can on building your stadium and first check how much to build of everything.
2. Make sure you play at least 4 training games every week. The results of these games doesn't mean anything except you can try different tactics.
3. After you have finished building your stadium you will be tempted to spend money on expensive players. Avoid that temptation. They will lose their value before you reach the top. Start getting youth players and keep the ones training on key attributes thus increasing in value, sell them if they max out.
4. Buy cheap 18-year-old players during the first week of the season when they flood the transfer market and train them. Buy cheap and sell expensive.
5. To reach the top you need veterans on your team. There are thousands of young and promising teams in the middle divisions but they are easily beaten by a team of cheaper veterans. If you want a really good team and actually win against top teams, get players over 30. If they retire just replace them with other old players.
Tactics:
1. Check your opponensts and copy the most successful tactic. Build your team according to your tactic. This only changes when they change the simulator.
2. Play head-to-head game with your own team to compare different tactics.
Training:
1. Have a trainer on all the training spots. They don't have to be expensive until you reach the top divisions.
2. Don't train heading or set plays (set plays could be ok for one player only). Goalkeepers are cheap so don't train that unless the player seem to suck in all other areas.
3. In order to have a top team you need Speed and Stamina of at least 8. Forwards should have at least 9 in Shooting and defenders at least 9 in Tackling. For midfielders Passing, Ball control and Tackling should be at least 7, defensive midfielders at least 8 in Tackling.
4. Only go for single stats if you train a limited player and want to sell him. A forward with 10 in Shooting can still be completely useless. If you get a single stat player like that, sell him because they are over-valued.
5. Since players can max after ball number 4, the value on the transfer market is often higher for a player with 3 balls than 4 balls in an important attribute.
